A year of walking

The curator follows Ines Okafor’s trowel from Gravesend to Lagos, and back.

Ines Okafor does not buy paint. For the last year she has walked with a trowel and a bag of jam jars, and everything in Red Earth began as a jar of soil.

Two rivers

The walks started on the Thames estuary and ended, twice, on the laterite roads outside Lagos. The colours she brought back are the exhibition.
